Akan Healthcare Services, P.C is a nurse owned and operated agency certified by Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDDS) as a residential service provider for the physically and mentally handicapped residents. We are dedicated to providing a warmth and nurturing environment for our residents. Our finest group and big-hearted staff make this a success. We provide an atmosphere that caters for the emotional and physical needs of our residents.
Residents and families find a sense of serenity and security in our environment. Along with good nutritional management by a license dietician, we take great pride in the enormous activity involvement of our residents by affiliating with community groups and religious organization permitted by DDDS, to give depth to our programming which include games, crafts, ceramics, exercises, dance and holiday celebrations. Also available are movies, concerts, discussion groups, recreational outings and cookouts.
Participation of residents in these programs is at resident, guardian or DDDS substitute decision maker discretion.
Population Served:
We strongly believe that services should not be denied to, nor treatments withheld from, people otherwise eligible to receive same, solely based on the severity of a disability, or on factors such as gender, age, sexual orientation, race, religion, marital status, national origin or ability to pay.
To this end, support services are adapted to the cultural background, language and ethnic origin of the particular resident whenever possible. In other words, our services cover all handicapped populations.
We offer skilled nursing care by a registered nurse to residents with accompanying medical problems such as residents with:
- Feeding tube
- Diabetes
- IV therapy
- Wound care, etc.

Personnel:
Every person working with AHS has met with all state and local rules and regulations and a compulsory training program with
DDDS. A positive attitude towards working with the physically and mentally handicapped is also considered in the recruitment process.
Trained technicians and a registered nurse care for AHS residents. The nurse provides hands on care and is available on call 24/7 for our resident's convenience. Resident's needs are met promptly and every resident is guaranteed to be happy and satisfied with us. |
